For those over 16 an additional diagnostic interview can be undertaken to diagnose DCD/Dyspraxia. This is suitable evidence for claiming Disabled Student's Allowance at university.

What is DCD/Dyspraxia?

Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), commonly known as dyspraxia in the UK, is a lifelong condition that affects movement and coordination. It is characterised by difficulties in planning, organising and executing physical movements and tasks.

Key aspects of DCD/dyspraxia in adults include motor skills difficulties, such as clumsiness or struggles with handwriting, or organisational challenges, such as problems with time management and planning. Some adults may also experience sensory processing issues.

An in-depth diagnostic interview is undertaken to determine whether DCD/dyspraxia is present. This includes discussing your specific difficulties since childhood. Once diagnosed, this information can be used to access Disabled Students Allowance.

How much does DCD/dyspraxia assessment cost?

DCD/dyspraxia assessment can be added onto a full diagnostic assessment for dyslexia for an additional charge of £100.

Assessment can take place online or in Truro, Cornwall.
