For adults, an additional diagnostic interview can be undertaken to identify characteristics of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This is suitable evidence for claiming Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) at university.

What is ADHD?

ADHD in adults is a complex condition. It is characterised by ongoing patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that can significantly impact daily life.

Adults with ADHD may struggle with focusing, staying organised, managing time, and controlling impulses. These challenges can affect studying, work performance, relationships, and personal well-being. It's important to note that ADHD symptoms can vary between individuals.

There are three main types of ADHD: inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive, and combined type. ADHD assessment involves an evaluation of symptoms and their impact on your life.

An in-depth diagnostic interview is undertaken to identify if characteristics of ADHD are present. This is not a medical diagnosis, but information gained from the interview can be used to access Disabled Students Allowance.

Ideally, the diagnostic interview involves yourself and your partner or a family member. Their involvement offers an outside perspective of your traits and difficulties.

Assessment for ADHD takes around an hour.

How much does ADHD assessment cost?

ADHD assessment can be added onto a full diagnostic assessment for dyslexia for an additional charge of £100.

Assessment can take place online or in Truro, Cornwall.
